A new school year begins with a new AVID crew and more AVID members! Welcome freshmen, to South Lenoir’s AVID team. Sophomores, you had a great year last year and now, as sophomores, you will be exceptional role models for our incoming freshmen. Mrs. Knowles will lead you in the AVID Elective class. Mrs. McIntyre and Ms. Justice are your new AVID Coordinators. We’ve got a lot lined up already this year.

The South Lenoir High School AVID class is participating in the Relay for Live event right here at SLHS!! We will be walking from 3pm on Friday June 20th to 12 noon on Saturday June 21st

Check out this Anti-Smoking video created by SLHS ~ AVID students for the TRU Teen of the Month program which calls on NC students to express through poetry, essays, artwork, music or video their personal accounts on the importance of being tobacco-free and how to help others be tobacco-free.
Way to go Sally, Iris, Ebony, Adrianna, Zach, and Austin!

The last day of classes before winter break brought a challenge to the AVID class. Students were given 6 graham crackers each. Using provided frosting and candy students had to construct a gingerbread house in a mere 40 minutes before lunch. Students could work independently or combine crackers with a partner to build a bigger house. Check out the fun we had!
