The South Lenoir High School AVID program began its implementation in the Fall of 2007 with a freshman group of AVID students. AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination and is a college preparatory path for students through their four years in high school. AVID students are placed in rigorous Honors courses and have the support of the AVID elective class which provides study skills, teamwork activities, and student directed learning forums.
